„Moinesters are descendents of Rabbi Menachem Mendel and Shprintze Shevach Moinester. Menachem Mendel's original family name was Dermer. He came to Haifa in 1865 from Moinesti, Romania, and then moved to Jerusalem in 1868, where he became known as the Moineshter (Moinester) rabbi. Menachem Mendel and Shprintze had five sons and one daughter. Moshe Avraham was their first born.
Moshe Avraham and Sarah were my great grandfather and great grandmother.
Our family had a dedicated genealogist, Manny Hillman, who published a book describing the histories (with family trees) and interconnections in Israel and USA of Soffer, Moinester, and Hillman families. Manny's book ("My father was born in Graz", 2005, Graz 25C.pdf) describes these three families that merged in Jerusalem in the 19th century. Manny gives a very interesting account of their story. I attach a pdf version of Manny's book, which includes a family tree. Manny's book has biographies of Moshe Avraham and Sarah (and photos) and of Menahem Mendel and Shprintze.”
